WRPQ RADIO operates 24 hours a day at 740 khz
on the AM radio dial in FULL AM STEREO. We were the first AM Stereo radio
station in Wisconsin, beginning such transmissions in April, 1984. Our
daytime power is 250 watts and a nighttime power of 6.4 watts. The station
utilizes a non-directional antenna system.
WRPQ, first known as WBOO
until 1984, has been in continuous operation since 1968 and is presently
owned and operated by only it's third set of owners. The station has enjoyed
it's 30-plus years of service to the Baraboo area due to it's commitment
to local programming and involvement in community affairs.
Offices and studios
of WRPQ are located in the heart of Downtown Baraboo at 407 Oak Street.
All technical facilities were upgraded in June, 1997 to the latest digital
and analog equipment being used by radio stations today.
WRPQ Radio programming consists
of "Soft Hits", a musical format playing the lighter hits of today. Music
is complimented with news network affiliations with CNN Radio News and
the Wisconsin Radio Network. The station also employs a full time news
department which provides local
and area news. We are also equipped with Doppler Radar and pride ourselves
on daily weather coverage and expanded coverage when severe weather threatens
or enters the area.
Local
sports coverage of Baraboo High School football, boys and girls basketball,
wrestling and Spring baseball are also seasonal offerings of the station.
