Saturday August 24 Area Sports Preview

Boys Soccer: Baraboo and Reedsburg both face Holmen and La Crosse Logan today at RAHS in the Reedsburg Classic. Reedsburg is 2-0 with a 3-1 win over Tomah and a 1-0 win over River Valley while Baraboo dropped a 7-2 decision to Beloit Memorial. Play begins at 10 AM today.

Sauk-Prairie continues it’s season opening action today at the two-day Waunakee Invite. Poynette-Portage also plays in the Berlin Invite.

Girls Tennis: Baraboo plays today in the Monroe Doubles Invite at 9 AM. Baraboo lost duals to La Crosse Central and Logan and placed sixth at the eight-team Stevens Point Invite already this week. Portage faces Onalaska Luther and La Crosse Aquinas today at UW-La Crosse.

Reedsburg lost 6-1 to Monroe Friday with Larissa Jaech and Haley Rockweiler winning at three doubles for the Beavers.

Girls Swimming: Sauk-Prairie opens the season today at the De Forest Invitational. Coach Todd Wuerger welcomes back Jordan Evans, Renee Ballweg and Erin Statz as State mmet swimmers from a year ago and Laken Murphy will be a key addition to the program as well.

Dells Raceway Park-The Allison Legacy Cars are part of the schedule of racing tonight along with the Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stock and Bandits divisions. Nick Nolden has passed Rich Schumann Jr for the points lead for the Late Models with Dave Trute and Mitch Lyden atop the Sportsman point standings and Travis Hancokc heads up the Pure Stock points race and Steven Rozek has a sizable lead for the Bandits. Fan gates open at 4 PM with qualifying at 5:15 PM and racing at 7 PM tonight.

The local entry in the Wisconsin State Football League, the Tri-City Bulldogs, host Manitowoc County at 6 PM tonight at Warner Park. The Bulldogs are 1-3 and have given up
