Monday begins the first full week of August and it also marks the start of thre pre-season for high school football teams all across the Badger State. Teams are limited what they can do the first with no on the field activities Monday and no full padded practices allowed until after Thursday. Teams will take part in scrimmages the weekend of August 16th and 17th with regular season openers set for Friday August 23rd for most teams. Jeff Ochsankehl at Baraboo, Brian Pottinger at Reedsburg, Joe Marx at Sauk-Prairie High School and Aaron Mack at Wisconsin Dells all return to their head coaching positions in our immediate area with Mack and Marx entering year two at their respective schools. Baraboo was 1-5 in Badger North and 1-7 overall a year ago with Sauk-Prairie 0-6 in Badger North and 1-8 overall, Reedsburg was 3-3 in Badger North and earned a playoff spot, finishing 6-4 overall and Wisconsin Dells qualified for the playoffs with a 3-2 record in the South-Central Conference and the Chiefs finished 4-5 overall. All four of these afore mentioned teams all open the 2013 regular season on the road in week one August 23rd but all are home on August 30th for week two action.
