The regular season schedule in the Western Night League in Home Talent Baseball is this week with Reedsburg at Sauk-Prairie tonight at 7:30 PM in one of the matchups. Sauk leads the Western Night League with just one and they’ll wrap up the one seed for the playoffs if they can win tonight. Portage is also slated to play at Wisconsin Dells this evening with Portage winning last night over the Dells team with Mike Jordahl collecting three hits and two rbi’s while pitching the final two innings for Portage as well in relief of winner Brad Johnson. Brady Greene also had twop hits for Portage while Mike Donnelly had three for Wisconsin Dells with Jared Van Schoyck the losing pitcher. Tomorrow’s Night League schedule includes Dodgeville at Richland Center and Mazomanie at Plain.
The playoffs begin this Sunday in the Northern Section in the Home Talent Baseball Sunday League with Sauk-Prairie and Reedsburg both at home to kick off the post-season. Sauk-Prairie won the West Division title and had the Northern Section’s best record at 13-3 so they are the one seed and will host eight seed Richland Center Sunday at 1 PM. R-C was 6-10 in the Sunday League and they won out on a tiebreaker over Mazomanie to earn that final playoff spot. Black Earth and Middleton shared the East division title at 12-4 but Black Earth gets the better seed at number two and they host seven seed Cazenovia Sundaty with Caz finishing 8-8 in the Sunday League with Middleton as the three seed hosting six seed Cross Plains with a 10-6 record. Reedsburg earned the final home spot Sunday as the four seed with a 12-4 record and the Pirates, coming off an impressive win over Sauk-Prairie last week, will host 11-5 Ashton Sunday at Nishan Park at 1 PM. The four winners advance to play the following Sunday and the best two seeds remaining will host those games.
Portage is 9-8 in the Eastern Section in Sunday League Home Talent Baseball and the Skeeters close out their Sunday League season by hosting Lodi. Portage is 9-8 in the Sunday League but are already out of playoff contention.
