Senior RJ Budd of Sauk-Prairie High School picked a great time to play some of his best golf earlier this month, shooting one under par over the two rounds to win the WIAA D-1 State Individual Championship and Budd now has been named to the All-State first team as well by the Wisconsin Golf Coaches Association. Budd is also a four-time all-conference player in Badger North for the Eagles and he won conference medalist honors this spring. Eddie Wajda of Brookfield Central and Ben Skogen of Onalaska shared Player Of The Year honors with D-2 Individual Champion Andrew Morrison of Edgerton also 0n the first team. Waunakee’s Max Murphy is an All-State honorable mention selection.
Reedsburg’s high school boys golf squad was honored this week and the team’s award winners have been announced by coach Mark Johnson. Senior Jeremy Grundahl was an academic All-State selection for this year with Freshman Jaret Decorah the Rookie Of The Year with Hunter Kaun Most Improved. Senior Tanner Keel won the Bird Man award as the team leader in birdies and the flat stick award for putting prowess en route to the team MVP award. Keel and fellow Senior Cortland Maxfield were Sectional individual qualifiers this season with Reedsburg sixth in Badger North but they did deliver a fourth place team performance in the 18-hole end of season Conference meet.
