The Baraboo Bandits Senior Legion baseball team has a busy weekend and it starts tonight as Portage comes to Mary Roundtree Evans Field for a 6 PM game. Baraboo is 3-3 for the summer with two wins vs Stoughton and a win over Mauston followed by losses last weekend to Viroqua, Onalaska and Lancaster. Baraboo stranded nine base runners in two of the three losses last weekend and had defensive troubles in two of the games as well after showing stronger play in those areas in the initial games this summer. Portage is 2-2 for the summer with both losses this week against Wisconsin Dells and Reedsburg. Baraboo hosts Tomah tomorrow afternoon in Junior and Senior Legion action with the Juniors game first up at 1 PM as part of Baraboo Baseball Day at Mary Roundtree Evans Field which also includes a Babe Ruth game at 11 AM, the newly formed Little Bandits 7-8 year olds from 6-7 PM, the first ever Baraboo Baseball Hall Of Fame inductions for Harry Saloutas, Craig Schlender, Steve Proctor, Gene Higgins and John Dombroski and the Legion baseball alumni game with other activities throughout the day as well at Mary Roundtree Evans Field. The Bandits Senior Legion squad also hosts Prairie Du Chien Sunday at 11 AM.
Reedsburg has a 3-0 record in Senior Legion baseball as they host Cottage Grove tonight at 6 PM at Nishan Park in their home opener. Reedsburg has wins over Madison Spartans, Mc Farland and Portage, scoring ten runs or more in all three games. Reedsburg’s Junior Legion squad plays a 5:30 PM game at Lodi tonight. The Reedsburg Juniors won the five-team tournament in Baraboo last weekend.
