Baraboo Thunderbird Track Teams Open With Some Highlights At Stevens Point

Baraboo’s boys and girls track teams opened their high school regular season schedules indoors at UW-Stevens Point over the weekend. The girls were in action Friday with McKaela Christenson placing second in the 3200 to lead the Baraboo effort with Alex Schwarz in the 3200, Veda Shukala in the high jump and triple jump, Emmalee Kick in the shot put and two relays also had top 20 finishes. The Baraboo girls tied for 16th place among 28 teams. The Thunderbird boys placed 15th of 19 teams Saturday and Connor Drexler placed fourth in the 400 to lead the way. Zack Henry and Zach Solles placed 6th and 7th respectively for Baraboo in the 1600 and the Thunderbirds also got a 7th place high jump finish from Freshman Nick Stack, Sean Cormican placed 8th as a Freshman in the shot put and Sam Trotter kicks off his Senior season placing tenth in the 3200 and Baraboo’s 1600 relay team of Drexler, Izak Walker, Matt Bruch and Donaldson Parker also placed 10th. Wisconsin Dells also competed both days in the indoor meet at UW-Stevens Point.
Sauk-Prairie High School sent their high school track teams to indoor competition at UW-Whitewater Friday to get the regular season underway. The Sauk boys tied for 8th in the small school grouping with Kyle Mc Conville placing second in the 55 hurdles. The girls placed tenth with second place individual finishes going to Lianna Mack in the 1600 and Libby Molitor in the pole vault.
