Wisconsin Dells One Win Away From The WIAA State Boys Basketball Tournament

D-3 Wisconsin Dells wins 42-34 over a scrappy Prairie Du Chien squad in the D-3 Sectional semi-finals in boys basketball at Baraboo High School last night. PDC jumped out early to lead 17-7 after one quarter against the stunned Chiefs but they responed with an 18-4 run in the second period to go up at halftime and Dells hung on to maintain a slim lead for most of the second half. The eight-point margin was tied for their second lowest of the season and Wisconsin Dells had only three turnovers in getting their record to 24-1 overall. MJ Delmore nailed five three-point goals en route to 20 points to lead Dells while Prairie Du Chien ends their season at 17-9. Wisconsin Dells meets 22-3 Lodi in the Sectional final Saturday at Middleton at 1 PM. Lodi, like Wisconsin Dells, is a state ranked team and the Blue Devils beat Marshall 63-56 last night. Dells beat Lodi last year in the regular season but lost to the Blue Devils in the Sectional and this year again Wisconsin Dells has a regular season win over Lodi but looking to duplicate it in Tournament play.
D-5 Royall 61 Cassville 56-Royall shot a blistering percentage early in building a 12-point lead at one point and they were up nine at halftime. Cassville rallied in the second half and closed the gap to two at one point in the fourth quarter but Royall wins it at Reedsburg to go 23-3 on the season. Nate Scheeter scored 24 points and Sam Murphy 20 for Royall who will advance to State for the second time in four years if they can win over 22-4 Elmwood Saturday at Logan High School in La Crosse. The Scenic Bluffs champion Royall Panthers get the win at Reedsburg despite 24 points from Sebastion Apers for 22-4 Cassville.
D-2 De Forest 59 Monroe 56 De Forest puts four players in double figures and they advance on at 16-9 to face 17-8 Stoughton in Saturday’s Sectional final at Janesville Craig. Stoughton and De Forest have both put together big winning streaks late in the season and Stoughton won 66-39 over Wilmot last night.
