Area Update For WIAA State Tournament Wrestlers For Saturday

-Prairie’s Eddie Smith lost both of his consolation matches at 113 pounds and ends up sixth in that weight class with a final record of 42-11

D-1 Sauk-Prairie’s Austin Fjoser lost his first consolation match of the day 3-0 but came back to defeat Hank Mattson of Mukwonago to win fifth place at 132 pounds with a final record of 43-6

At 170 pounds, Jared Schaaf of Sauk-Prairie lost his first consolation match but came back to claim fifth place with a 6-2 win over Duncan Mc Kinney of Holmen with a final record of 33-12

D-2 Joe Crook of River Valley lost 11-1 in his first consolation match and then lost 8-6 to Elliot Sparby of Mosinee to finish 6th place with a final record of 38-11 at 145 pounds

Zach Koch of River Valley loses 6-2 in his first consolation match and then loses the fifth place match 10-5 to place 6th at 195 pounds

D-3 Cody Willis of Weston-Ithaca was pinned in his first consolation match at 152 and then lost 5-1 in the fifth place match to finish 6th with a record of 40-8 for the season

Atticus Sharp of Weston-Ithaca advances in extra time to the third place match in his first consolation round match at 195 before dropping a 5-3 decision to Derek Peat of Iowa-Grant-Highland to place 4th with a final overall record of 42-8.

Seth Liegel of River Valley, Hunter Dischler and Wyatt Seep of Weston-Ithaca and Christian Moore of Royall all wrestle tonight after 6:30 PM for State championships.

River Valley’s Seth Liegel is a repeat State champion at the WIAA State Tournament in Madison as he completes an unbeaten season at 152 pounds in D-2 with a 16-1 tech fall victory in the final over Mitchell Fucile of Clinton-Hilbert as Liegel ends his prep career with wins in his final 91 matches including 46-0 this year.

Freshman Hunter Dischler is a State champion for Weston-Ithaca at 106 pounds in D-3 with a win in the final 5-4 over Riley Lull of Riverdale. The two wrestled each other five times this year with Dischler winning for the second time Saturday night to cap a championship season at 44-5.

Wyatt Seep comes away with a second place finish at State at D-3 170 for Weston-Ithaca after losing 5- 4 to Matt Nowak of Edgar in an exciting final with Seep ending the season 42-5 as a Senior.

Royall’s Christian Moore is a State champion at 220 pounds in D-3, completing a 45-0 Senior season with a 6-1 win in the final over Chase Nottestad of Westby. Moore placed 3rd at State last year.
