WIAA Boys State Swimming: Baraboo’s two relay teams both earn medals with top five State finishes. The 200 Free relay team of Brian Cormican, Sean Cormican, Tanner Craker and Dan O’ Rourke places 4th and the 200 medley relay group of Brian Cormican, Craker, O’ Rourke and Matt Garcia takes home a fifth place finish. Craker also placed 8th in the 50 Free with Brian Cormican 13th in the 100 Free and 100 Back.

Bryan Frosch from the Sauk-Prairie-Wisconsin Heights coop wins two individual medals at State with a 4th place effort in the 200 IM and 5th in the 500 Free and other highlights were Andrew Meng 7th in the 100 Back and a 7th for the 200 medley relay team of Frosch, Meng, Pablo Morales and Brady Mautz. Sauk’s group was 10th in team scoring in D-2 with Baraboo 12th with MG the team champion.

Gymnastics: Mount Horeb, Milton, Reedsburg-Weston, Waunakee-De Forest, Sauk-Prairie and Baraboo is the order of finish at the Badger Conference Meet in Waunakee. Tommie Brenner of Reedsburg had third’s in the floor exercise and vault competition.

Boys Basketball: Badger North-Mt Horeb 56 Baraboo 51, Baraboo was within one point of the Vikings twice in the final three minutes but Mount Horeb hangs to finish 8-4 for the conference season while Baraboo ends up 0-12 in Badger North and 1-21 for the regular season. Mount Horeb took advantage of a 20-6 edge at the foul line with Shane Collins the leading scorer with 13. Joe Bruni paced Baraboo with 13 points and Ty Schlichtmann scored 11 in the loss. Baraboo opens WIAA Tournament play Tuesday at Reedsburg with a 7 PM tip-off.

Portage 41 Reedsburg 40 OT-Ian Taylor’s shot with four seconds left wins it for Portage and he also tied the game in the final minute of regulation time with a three-point goal. Portage did not convert a field goal in the entire third period but rallied from a double digit defecit to win by one over the Beavers for the second time this season. Capreace Salinas had 16 points for the Beaverswho finish 6-6 for the conference season and 12-10 for the regular season. Daniel Beck scored 16 points for Portage who finishes 5-7 in conference and they are now 9-13 overall.

De Forest 50 Waunakee 42-Waunakee suffers their first and only conference loss while the Norskies share second place in the final league standings at 8-4. Brett Minick and Josiah Owen score 14 each for the Norskies in the win.

Non-Conference: Oregon 45 Sauk-Prairie 43-Oregon goes on a 14-2 run to end the game and a three-point goal by Andrew Mc Cauley at the buzzer wins it as Sauk ends the regular season at 11-11 overall. Seth Kostroski led Sauk with 11 points and the Eagles now look to the WIAA Tournament opener Tuesday at Mc Farland.

South-Central Conference-Wisconsin Dells 104 Wautoma 43, Dells goes 10-0 in the SCC for the second year in a row and put up one of their highest scoring games in school history. The Chiefs are 21-1 overall and open their post-season schedule Friday at home.

Scenic Bluffs Conference-Royall clinches the outright title at 13-1 with an 82-34 win over Brookwood.

SWC-River Valley 61 Richland Center 54-River Valley earns a share of the league title with Richland Center and Dodgeville at 7-3. Taylor Thering had 18 points for the victorious Blackhawks.
