The Wisconsin Dells Sectional bracket in high school boys hockey has been adjusted and as a result, Baraboo-Portage and the Sauk-Prairie Coop now get byes from first round play on February 12th. The Aquinas Avalanche coop was originally the three seed in this sectional behind Wisconsin Rapids and Onalaska but Aquinas has been banned from post-season play because of the new WIAA mandate that eliminates teams that had three player game DQ’s during the sesason from post-season play. Their appeal was denied and as a result, the 12-team Sectional is now 11 teams and everyone moves up one seed. Five teams now get a first round bye and those five now include Rapids, Onalaska, West Salem, who moves from the four seed to number three, Baraboo-Portage, who moves from five to four, and the Sauk-Prairie coop who moves from the six seed to number five with the Baraboo group now hosting the Sauk squad on Thursday February 14 at 7:30 PM at the Pierce Park Pavillion. The first round games on February 12th now have six seed RWD hosting 11 seed Sparta-Mauston at Poppy Waterman in the Dells, seven seed Tomah hosting ten seed Black River Falls coop and the eight seed is now La Crosse Central-Logan hosting nine seed Viroqua. Poppy Waterman Arena in Wisconsin Dells is the host for the Sectional Final on Friday February 22nd at 7 PM.
