Girls Basketball: Badger North-Reedsburg 37 Baraboo 34, Baraboo suffers their first loss of the season as they failed to get production against Reedsburg’s sticky man-to-man defense with only a 36% night shooting from the floor and only 25% from three-point land with 16 turnovers. Reedsburg was up eight early in the final period but Baraboo got to within one in the final seconds before Reedsburg iced it by making five of six free throws in the final seconds. It was Reedsburg’s second win over a ranked team in the last six days after Reedsburg edged Onalaska 31-30 on Saturday and the third ranked Thunderbirds go down last night. Emily Brinker had 15 points and Sam Terry 13 for Baraboo, now 8-1 in the conference and 15-1 overall. Tiernee Schronk led the Beavers with 11 points and Beth Maenpaa scored nine with Reedsburg improving to 5-3 in conference with an overall mark of 11-5 as Baraboo’s long losing streak in Reedsburg in girls basketball continues.
Portage 53 Sauk-Prairie 35-Sauk led 15-5 but Portage outscores the Eagles 48-20 after that for their first league win. Caitlyn Hibner had 15 points and Emily Grunder 12 for the 1-7 Warriors who snap an overall losing streak of seven. Sauk is also 1-7 in league play with Georgai Breunig scoring 15 in the loss with the two splitting the regular season series.
De Forest 46 Mount Horeb 42-Kayla Goth had 14 points for 5-3 De Forest with Mount Horeb slipping to 3-6 with the loss in Badger North

Boys Basketball: Scenic Bluffs Conference-Bangor 61 Hillsboro 47 with Hillsboro falling to 5-5 in league play with a second straight loss

Girls Hockey: Badger Thunder 12 Viroqua 0-The Thunder finishes 2-7-1 for the conference season with both wins over Viroqua. Dani Imhoff had her first hat trick of the season with Courtney Sakry and Tiara Barney also scoring two goals each and Leigh Stawinoga, Justine Bradley, Kathryn Vander Schaaf, Karla D’Asto and Spencer Natzke also finding the back of the net. Jamie Dutton was called on to make only one save in net all night with the Thudner now 7-13-2 overall.
Boys Swimming: Badger North Meet at Baraboo-Mc Farland wins the team title with Sauk-Prairie-Wisconsin Heights second followed by Baraboo, Waunakee and De Forest. Tanner Craker had a big night for the Thunderbirds with titles in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly and was part of the first place 200 medley relay with Brian Cormican, Matt Garcia and Dan O’ Rourke. O’ Rourke in the 200 Free and Brian Cormican in the 100 Free had thirds and the 200 free relay group of Craker, O’ Rourke, Sean Cormian and Peter Hancovsky also took second for Baraboo. Bryan Frosch won the 100 and 200 Free for the Sauk-Prairie squad with Andrew Meng the champ in the 100 backstroke.
