Boys Basketball: Badger Challenge-Sauk-Prairie 64 Madison Edgewood 53, Jake Fiene scores 25 points for Sauk including 11 in the final period when Sauk pulled away. Simon Breunig scored 14 and Tanner Leister 12 for the Eagles who are now 9-8 overall.
Fort Atkinson 67 Reedsburg 62-Reedsburg led 23-15 after one quarter but Fort outscores the Beavers in each quarter after that. Reedsburg also hurt themselves at the foul line, converting just 6 of 15 attempts. Capreace Salinas scores 23 and Sam Peterson and Steve Gavin 11 each for the 8-7 Beavers.
Stoughton 50 Portage 49-Stoughton rallies from five down after three periods to win it as Portage falls to 7-8. Ian Taylor scores 17 for the Warriors who hit on seven three-point goals in the loss.
Mount Horeb 57 Monona Grove 40
Waunakee 53 Monroe 51-Ryan Kruser scores the game-winning basket with two seconds left to give Waunakee the win as the North wins the Badger Challenge for the third straight year 4-3 in the seven games played in Monroe.
Girls Basketball: Reedsburg 31 Onalaska 30 in 2 OT-Tiernee Schronk’s free throw with 13 seconds left wins it for Reedsburg who rallied from six down after three periods to force OT. Reedsburg scored only three points total in the two OT sessions and Onalaska just two points. Reedsburg outscores the Hilltoppers 10-3 at the foul line with Reedsburg now 9-5 overall while the sixth ranked Hilltoppers fall to 13-2.
Boys Hockey: Aquinas Avalanche 2 RWD 1 in Onalaska-Matt Olson scores a third period goal but RWD comes up short and falls to 10-7-1. Tyler Arneson stops 29 shots in net for Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells.
Kettle Moraine Coop 9 Sauk-Prairie Coop 4-The Sauk group falls to 10-9-1 overall after the road loss. Jacob Free and Luke Mc Elhenie each score two goals for the Sauk group in defeat.
Girls Hockey: Badger Thunder wins 8-2 over Medford and 7-0 over Lakeland Saturday at the Beaver Dam Tournament. Leigh Stawinoga and Kristen South score two goals each vs Medford with Kathryn Vander Scahaaf, Dani Imhof, Courtney Sakry and Justine Bradley also scoring with the Thunder owning a 54-7 shots advantage. The Thunder wins on a shutout over Lakeland with Spencer Natzke scoring twice with other goal scorers including Rachel Pawlak, South, Stawinoga, Bradley and Sakry with Jamie Dutton needing only six saves for the shutout. The Thunder wins three games at Beaver Dam to go 6-11-2 overall.
Wrestling: Wisconsin Dells 3rd at the 11-team Dells Invite behind Aquinas and Grand Meadow, Minnesota. John Mor and Andrew Mc Clyman win their weight class for the Chiefs with Bryan Ugalde, Mason Weber, Max Obois and Willie Vandenlangenberg all placing third for Dells.
Gymnastics-River Valley 2nd, Sauk-Prairie 4th, Baraboo 6th at the seven-team River Valley Invite in Spring Green. No area schools had any top three finishes with Mount Horeb the team champion.
Boys Swimming: Nop top three’s for Sauk-Prairie-Wisconsin Heights Coop at the UW-Madison Invitational.
UW-Baraboo Men’s Basketball loses 78-57 to Uw-Barron County with James Knower scoring 16 and Jacob Nachtigal 15 for the Fighting Spirits.
