Area Teams Remain At Or Near The Top Of The State High School Basketball Rankings

The Baraboo Thunderbird girls and Wisconsin Dells boys continue to earn high marks as the newest Associated Press high school boys and girls basketball state ranklings have been released for this week.
Baraboo continues to hold down the number three spot in the D-2 poll and they are now 13-0 overall after a win Monday at Edgerton. 11-0 New London and 10-0 Monona Grove sit ahead of Baraboo in the D-2 rankings with another unbeaten team-Wilmot Union, also unbeaten and ranked fifth. New Lisbon from the Scenic Bluffs Conferenceis at number eight in D-5 but they fell to 9-2 overall last night with a loss to Adams. The top ranked teams on the girls side this week are De Pere, New London, Neilsville, Amherst and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
Wisconsin Dells is still atop a strong D-3 field in the AP boys rankings at 13-0 with several top notch non-c0nference wins this season boosting their resume. Lodi is ranked number two with a 12-0 record and the Blue Devils and Wisconsin Dells could very well collide in the WIAA Sectional play in March. Little Chute, La Crosse Aquinas and East Troy are among the other powers near the top of the D-3 poll. Royall continues to lead the Scenic Bluffs Conference and the Panthers are 10-2 overall and holding the number eight spot in D-5. Top ranked boys teams are Germantown, Seymour, Wisconsin Dells, Whitefish Bay Dominican along with a tie between Randolph and Green Bay Lutheran in D-5. Waunakee recieved votes in D-2 in the boys and girls polls.
