Boys Basketball: Badger North-Waunakee at Baraboo-Baraboo is 1-2 to start the season with a win over Racine Case and losses to Kimberly and Monroe and Baraboo is looking to reduce their turnover numbers to increase their point production with the Baraboo Thunderbirds averaging just 27 points per game so far. Waunakee has won or shared six straight league titles in Badger North and the Warriors are the pre-season favorites again led by returning all-leaguer Will Decorah who scored almost 13 points per game last year. Waunakee is off to a 2-0 start this season including a win over Wauwatosa East Saturday. It’s the league opener for both squads and you can hear the game live on 99.7 FM and AM 740-WRPQ Radio with Dave Helwig and Terry Kieck with pre-game coverage around 7:15 PM.

Sauk-Prairie at Mount Horeb-Sauk opens the league season tonight with a 1-2 overall mark and this will be their first game since a 71-37 loss to state ranked Lodi one week ago. Sauk’s offensive output has gone down in each game and they look for a boost tonight. Sauk’s defense has allowed over 70 points in two of three games and they’ll face a Vikings team that edged De Forest by four in their league opener and lost to Marshall recently. Brett Jerdee and Shane Collins are returning all-league honorable mentions for the Vikings.

Reedsburg at De Forest-The Beavers are 2-0 with road wins over Viroqua and Mauston with Capreace Salinas scoring 50 points already for Reedsburg with Nate Runde providing good production in the post, it was an up-tempo game at Viroqua and more of a half-court game at Mauston and Reedsburg will face a De Forest team that lost a close one to Mount Horeb in their league opener and the Norskies are 2-1 overall.

Non-Conference-Monroe at Portage-Monroe brings a 3-0 record to Portage tonight and one of the Monroe wins was 52-28 over Baraboo last week, Portage is 1-21 with a win over Beaver Dam and losses in the last two against Tomah and Lodi with the offense hurting a bit of late with leading scorer and all-leaguer Adam Considine out for the year with a knee injury. Portage scored 61 at Beaver Dam but have been in the 40′s the last two games.

Necedah at Weston(0-3)

South-Central Conference-Westfield at Wisconsin Dells-Dells has started the year 4-0 with eight-point wins over La Crosse Aquinas and Kimberly with blowout wins over Racine Park and Lancaster three days ago. MJ Delmore, Shane Wimann and Mike Dickman all have had at least one 20-point outing this year for a Chiefs team that is averaging over 70 points per game. Both teams are opening the league season tonight with another round of SCC action Friday including Nekoosa at Wisconsin Dells.

Girls Basketball: Sauk-Prairie at River Valley-The Sauk girls are 1-1 overall with a solid win over Richland Center and a lopsided loss at home to Baraboo Saturday, the Eagles had some turnover problems against an aggressive defense Saturday with Baraboo holding Sauk to 37 points after Sauk put 69 points on the board against Richland Center, River Valley won their first two against Pecatonica and Mineral Point before suffering a 19-point loss to Lancaster, Morgan Johnson sets the pace for the lady Blackhawks.

Portage at Waupun-Portage fell to 1-2 overall with a 42-35 loss at Reedsburg Friday in a game where turnovers and poor shooting plagued the Warriors, the win came against Rio and the Warriors tonight face a Waupun team that is 0-2 to start the season.

Mauston at Hillsboro

Monday-Wisconsin Dells 33 Tomah 31-Dells improves to 3-2 overall with Hunter Hickey scoring nine for Dells, Wonewoc-Center 32 Weston 26-Weston falls to 1-1 overall with a non-conference loss after beating North Crawford last week.

Wrestling: Mt Horeb at Reedsburg-It’s the first Badger North dual of the season with Reedsburg coming off a fifth place team finish at the Reedsburg Invite with Wyatt Rabuck winning an individual title for the Beavers. Mount Horeb is projected to be one of the top teams in Badger North with a veteran roster in place.

Sauk-Prairie at Sun Prairie-Sauk sent some wrestlers to Campbellsport for an individual tourney Saturday with Eddie Smith, Austin Fjoser, Jordan Powell, Brandon Sprecher and Caleb Sisbach all winning titles for the Eagles.

Wisconsin Dells at Madison La Follette-Dells got a title from Willie Vandenlangenberg en route to a third place team finish at the Royall Invite Saturday.

Boys Hockey: Wisconsin Rapids at Sauk-Prairie Coop 7 PM-The Sauk group fell to 2-3 overall with a 4-3 loss to Monona Grove Saturday despite two more goals from Luke Mc Elhenie who has ten goals already this season, Rapids is 4-0 to start the season, Sauk takes on Baraboo in Badger North action Friday.

Cortland Maxfield of RWD is the Player Of The Week from Wisconsin Prep Hockey.net after tallying six goals with seven assists in three games, all wins for RWD with the Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells coop now 5-1 on the season.

Girls Hockey: Stoughton Coop at Badger Thunder at the Pierce Park Pavillion at 7:30 PM-It’s a Badger Conference game with the Thunder 0-2 in league play and 0-4 overall now after a 3-1 loss at Marshfield Monday with Leigh Stawinoga scoring the lone goal for the Thunder who has scored only five goals in the four games. Jamie Dutton had 16 saves last night in goal for the Thunder who faces a group from Stoughton that is off to a 2-0 start in the conference.

Baraboo and Sauk-Prairie Coop boys swim teams at the Badger North Relays at Waunakee-Tanner Craker won the 50 Freestyle for Baraboo at the Sun Prairie Invite Saturday with Bryan Frosch earning two top three’s for the Sauk squad Saturday.
