Former Baraboo High School standout Scott Williams was named to the all-conference first team unit in WIAC Baseball as announced this week. Williams was named to the all-league team as a sophomore pitcher for UW-Stevens Point. Williams was an all-conference and all-district pitcher during his Baraboo High School days as well.

Portage High School alum Jen Krueger was named all-Big Ten third team in softball as a member of the UW Badgers program. Krueger, a sophomore outfielder, was named MVP and offensive player of the year for the Badgers team after leading the squad in batting average, hits, runs and stolen bases.

Baraboo has a new head football coach as former Sauk-Prairie head coach jeff Ochsankehl will take over for Scott Carr who resigned this past November. Ochsankehl has 25 years of football coaching experience and was in charge of the Sauk program from 1992-2000 and then served as an assistant coach under Pat Rice with the Waunakee program from 2001-2006. Ochsankehl is a teacher presently in the Sauk-Prairie district and as it stands now, will remain in that capacity for next year while leading the T-Bird football program. The Michigan native served as a volunteer in more of an advistory role with the Sauk and Waunakee programs this past season. Baraboo was 2-7 overall this past season.

Baraboo had been part of a 15 or 16 team sectional in WIAA D-1 Boys and Girls basketball over the past couple of seasons but the WIAA has announced that the large grouping will be broken up into two regionals starting with the upcoming season. Baraboo, Waunakee and De Forest will join the La Crosse area schools in one regional with Middleton, Sun Prairie and Watertown joining the Madison schools in another regional. Sauk-Prairie high school has been part of this Division One basketball sectional for the past couple of seasons but will be in Division Two for the tournament season for the upcoming season, in a regional with Reedsburg, Wis Dells, Richland Center, River Valley, Mauston and Prairie Du Chien.
